“Ginger” John Caverly


John Cavalry has been farming on the Big Island for 40 years. He grew the first organic yellow ginger crop in Captain Cook and has established many organic farms. At his farm in Papaikou John now focuses on taro, ulu (breadfruit), sugarcane, bananas, and other basic crops. His fresh produce is used at his family operated Sweet Cane Café, a vegetarian eatery and juice bar with two locations in Hilo.
